The shocks for the trailer are Monroe 555002. Rockauto.com had the best price.
What I do to overcome the bifocal problem is to take a closeup pic of the plate/whatever and then I can blow it up big enough to see.... I'm with you though, these darn bifocals make it hard when looking for numbers stamped on things in tight places...
Ok, looks like I got the little pic thing figured out.... A little help from those with Mercruiser experience, what model drive is this? I can't find any numbers on it anywhere, if they were there they've been covered with paint...
I looked the drive over from top to bottom and can find no numbers on it anywhere, I looked in the places it's supposed to be but there's nothing there??? No numbers on the housing or transom assembly either....
That's great news on the OD! One of the things I do as told by a local MC tech was to put a light layer of bearing grease on the OD to bell housing gasket so it won't become stuck together and need pried apart. Good idea to change out the bellows. Be sure to pull and check and the lower shift cable too while you have it apart. If the cable looks good clean it up. I would split the OD case and replace the impeller before use. It would also be a good idea to check the alignment before putting it back together.
The old MC1 OD's I had when I got my Chief didn't have any numbers on them either. My Alpha One has the transom assembly, OD and motor serial ID tags all on the motor, valve cover and flame arrestor.
The 70's has left the building, avocado green wouldn't be my choice of colors either.
