1979-115hp flyweel will not turn.

Hello there. I need some help please. I follow the advice here and toock the spark plogs out and dissanseble the lower unit. When I turn the key, starter motor will angage and move the flyweel just one toth. Is like something is holding. I try untill flyweel made one turn around and still will not free turn. Any sugestions were I may look now.

I had trouble with my wireing and bypass it to start the motor at the coil. since than I have trouble staring the engine. Starter go up and engage but will not turn. seems my motor sist. Help Please.

Welcome to iboats, remove spark plugs and try. if it will not turn then, drop the lower unit. this will decide if it is the engine or lower unit that is siezed.

Were you having problems starting the outboard before making a change to the wiring? Would the starter not engage and turn the flywheel?

when I am try to start the motor, starter motor will engage but it seems that the flyweel will not turn.

Were you having problems starting the outboard before making a change to the wiring? Would the starter not engage and turn the flywheel?

I found my trouble with the start. My fuse was dirty. But at the time in the middle of the lake I had to start it with the screw divers. since than at home with the bunny ears on my starter will go to the flyweel but not turn it. I replaced the starter and test the battery. What next. Thank you,.

Can you turn the flywheel by hand with the spark plugs out?

no. and when i turn the key only one tooth moves at the time. very hard.
