1979 90 HP No Spark

I have a 1979 90 hp that is not getting a spark. Took in for repair one year ago with same problem and he said stator was bad. I replaced the stator with a new one and still no spark. I removed plug and hooked it back to the plug wire and held it about 1/4" from a ground and no spark. Also hooked an automotive plug to the wire and held to ground and no spark. This newbe needs some help please.

First remove the black/yellow wire off the switch box terminals and check for spark, that will tell it the problem is with the engine or wiring harness. Hese's the test for the ign.
