50-1 1 pint to 6 gal. Regular gas.
If you have any doubts about the impeller, change it.
The ports on the back are a bypass or relief ports.
They don't necessarily need to have water pumping from them.

Re: 1979 chrysler skier 700

Those older Chryslers can have a whizzer tube attached.
On top of the head is a screw/plug undo it and install an elbow and a hose.
Profile, location?? You might be close to someone who can help.

The whizzer is an indicator. It shows your pumping water as you start and run.
You can see from the drivers seat weather or not the motors pumping water.
Just a bit of piece of mind.
Just to be sure, change the impeller. That way you know it's good.
NEVER start or run without it being hooked up to water.

ok so the whizzzer is so i can see the water flowing. is it gonna help with the cooling of the motor or is it gonna effect the water flow another thing i thought of when we were on the lake riding when we ran mid throttle evrything was fine when i opened her up for quite a distance the overheat buzzer would go off so i would idle down to mid throttle and it would quit motor was fine actually cool to the touch at mid throttle only at full speed it would get rather warm i know any doubts about the impellar then change it im just wondering about blockage like dirt dobbers for example the weather here is pretty crappy and havent got into it yet just trying to get a heads up.. thanks

Re: 1979 chrysler skier 700

You need to contact someone like Teleflex or Faria guages. For the temp guage, the factory didn't put them on in most cases they were an aftermarket item.
The tach yes you can install one. Again Faria or Teleflex or any of the guage makers.
Try this site for parts. They do have some good stuff. Probably no tachs or guages but lots of other parts.

To install a temperature gauge, the sender screws into the hole in the top of the head that is plugged with a stainless slotted pipe plug. Then you run a single wire to the dashboard and one terminal of the temperature gauge. Run another wire from the "I" or "A" terminal of the ignition switch to the positive terminal on the gauge. In operatino, with the ignition switch in run position, the "I" terminal has positive 12 volts. The "sender" Is a variable resistor that changes with heat. As it heats, resistance decreases, more voltage flows to ground, and the gauge reads higher.

You have the option of using the orange wire and disconnecting the buzzer but you can not attach both the buzzer and gauge to the same wire. If you want both you must run a separate wire.

If you want a pisser in addition to the gauge, you must drill and tap another hole in the top of the block., usually 1/8 NPT like the existing plugged hole.

The thermostat is located in the square cover on the top of the head.

If your engine is overheating only at full throttle, either the thermostat is stuck partially open or the water pump impeller inside the lower unit is wearing. Change the impeller as a matter of routine maintenance and the overheat will most likely stop.

Instructions for changing impellers are in the sticky FAQs at the top of the forum
