I have a 1979 Mercury 110 9.8 and it wasn't discharging water very well. I took the lower unit off and put a new impellar in and it still doesn't pump water out well. Only a trickle comes out regardless of if it's in gear or at idle in nuetral.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Run it till the tricle starts then spray compressed air in the pisser hole for about 1 second and wait for the flow to start again. If it's stronger repeat until it's pissing strong. (This is assuming you got the driveshaft key in place in the impellor.)
Eric

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I made double sure the key was in place before I put 'er back together so I don't think that is it.

While you have the unit off, seal both ends of the water pickup tube with something, they like to suck air at them and can cause alot of greif

Thanks for the help! I blew the line out backwards and that did the trick. There must have been some crud in the line somewhere.

This is and excellent site.
