I have to buy a new tachometer..mine died.
Can anyone tell me the number of poles on the stator/alternator?
I understand I need to know that in order to buy the correct tach.
Thanks
Greg

Are you sure the tach is dead and not the stator or rectifier? Is your battery still charging?

I just don't want to see you get a tach when you don't need one.

Well...just bought the boat and running down the river all of a sudden the tach cover blows off and into the river....the tach was working not working properly even before this...it would read to about 3500 rpm and then the next 2000 rpm would come and go on the needle, usually settling around 4000.
Put a vibro-tach on it last night and engine is running up to 5400 rpm. Haven't had it but 2 days and so far batteries are working. So dont know if charging properly yet.
But even if it is stator or rectifier...I still need to get a tach :)

Thanks a lot...
I ordered a Clymers manual but it has not arrived yet and I wanted to have the tach in when it arrives.
