Any input on question about connecting rod nuts... are they reusable?

Finally putting this long-term rebuild project back together and have a question... The clear hose with masking tape attached has a one-way valve brass fitting on each end and they are opposites. I had these out for the rebuild and did not realize they are one way only...

My question is... which way is the air supposed to move in this hose? From the top to the bottom or from the bottom to the top???

So does it matter that I’m using new gas line instead of the original?

Ok... 9 months after I began the tear down for a rebuild the ole merc is ticking once again. I finished putting it together this eve and wonder of wonders, it ran.

I do need to replace the water pump impeller yet... What's the best way to look up which is my correct part number?

Every boat shop will have that in stock.-----You need a new impeller now.-------Part # starts with 47 and ends with 84

Had it out today again and starting to seem like my good old running machine again. Replaced the water pump and adjusted the carb mixture screws to eliminate the sputtering on take off. Running time and three three quarters oil and not sustained WOT yet. See link below.

If I could only get it to cold start better. Last few times I’ve taken plugs out and administered direct injection.

Thanks to all for your help on this project.

Yeah, that and a dozen other relevant posts.

Also fatzbullet, jumbo, and the rest, thanks again. I consider the rebuild a success and will abandon this post to where old posts go.

A parting pic of the subject on the way in the other day...
