I have a 1979 80 hp murcury that I have inherited and I need to find the control box and wire harness from the side of the motor up to the key witch and how to wire starter solenoid . This one has been cut and replaced wires and have no idea how they go. I know it’s a long shot but any help is great

Wiring diagram might be found on line.------mastertechmarine.-----Or simply google for it for your motor.

The maxrules web site will have the wiring diagram. The boat and engine wiring harnesses are avail on the web. By now the engine wiring harness is likely bad. Look for crumbling insulation.

If that motor is a '79, it will have 4 ign coils and no distributor. if it has a distributor, it is 1976 or older.

You can create your own wiring harness. You will need wire and some kind of connectors for the red, yellow, brown, orange, grey and black wires. If the motor is 1979, the white wire is not used. Hopefully you have a MerControl.

Power trim harness (if you have it) is separate.
