1979 venture-rendezvous III, 16.5' fiberglass bass boat (tri hull)

a couple of months ago i bought this boat w/motor,trailor,etc... for $400. the motor runs great now but the boat is a little rough.

i was looking for information on this boat (max persons, hp, hull weight, etc.) and stumbled across some info on this site and for the life of me cant find it again. it said max hp 115, which im at, and hull weight #830 dry, and no more info.

does this sound a little light for that old of a boat to anyone else? (i was thinking maybe a simple typo maybe #1830) although she jumps up and runs pretty fast.

i was considering upgrading to a little nicer boat (that needs less repair) with a light body but cant find anything that has dry specs this light in this hp range. everything i find this light is rated 90hp thats why i was thinking typo. any suggestions on brands? years? at compareable weights.

with limited budget i may have to dress her up 1 step at a time. does anyone have any more info on this boat? i did a check and the company is out of buisness.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

tow her down to a public scale, and have it weighed. that will tell the complete store of her weight. the subtract 350lb for motor, and the weight of the trailer.

thanks tashasdaddy.

you would think being an auto mech i would have the common sense to have thought of that.

do you know how i might find out the max person and max person/gear weight?
i have found that when the fish are biteing that more than one buddy is rarin to go.

she floats and is dry other than when the livewell get splashed out, but doesnt have a stitch of carpet left and only one good seat (mine:D). i dont want to pull the i didnt know card if i ever get boarded by the lake patrol for having too many people aboard.

thanks again for the help!

Hi David: Well you will have to repair the parts you need or replace them as the Company is No longer in Business. Both Owners and plant manager are dead and plant is a repair shop for boats now and lots smaller scale. No parts are available for any of the boats.I live close to the plant and have a Venture 16-1/2 foot one and the plate opnj it says 700 lbs max weight.ii5 HP engine which I wemnt to a 70 Evinrude.I am still restoring it but almost done just like refinishing the top side which I have off the boat. I filled the hull with 4 lb foam and it has a new floor so it should be a nice boat .I paid 600.00 for mine and have restored the trailer as well.I will have 2 Grand in it before I am done but it will be like new!
thanks tashasdaddy.

This thread is 4 years old, and David hasn't been around since January 2011, so don't expect him to reply.
