1980-150 revs up

My 150 Mercury revs up on full trottle take off..prop is moving alot of water but don't pick up speed,,seems like the prop is not grabbing enough water//got it on a 17' 1989 bayliner,,prop is a 12" 25P,,is there a slip clutch or something like that anywhere? :mad:

Check installation height. The cav plate should be level with the bottom of the boat.<br /><br />Chris...........

Chis,,the part where the rubber flange is bolted on is about 2" higher then the bottom of boat,,should I take that piece off,,maybe it will get more water,,please help!!!

Bayliner,<br /><br />I'm going to need pictures. I don't know of any rubber flange on the engine. <br /><br />The cav plate is the large plate on the engine immediately above the prop. That should be level with the bottom of the boat.<br /><br />Chris.........

Cris the rubber flange I'am talking about is the trim plastic that mounts on the bottom of the motor to get out on plane better!!Please email me @ (refohl@yahoo.com) and i will send you some pic's....Thanks for any info,,,Andy

If the motor is sitting on the transom as low as it will go, I suspect someone change a long shaft for a short shaft. Also, you might want to check and make sure your prop is not turning on the hub.
