I have been unable to get my motor to run for several days. It will start and idle and then die like it starves out. Today I decided to tear into it and check/clean fuel pump and carb bowl. First- I like my evinrude a lot more. Easier access to everything. This mercury is tricky. But I got the carb off and first discovery- the plastic venturi came off and made its way past the butterfly. Luckily it didn't break or get sucked into anything bad. When I went to reinstall it- second discovery. The main jet that the venturi mounts to pretty much exploded. It split in half and mushroomed out like a bullet. HOW does that happen?
so what's my best course of action? Looks like the part is unavailable new, and I've already got way too much money into this boat.

it is the 200 blue stipe, the carb is stamped mercarb but theres casting numbers on the fuel pump plate and a couple other spots around the carb body that i cant make any sense of. as for buying a new carb, thats out of the question. i havnt seen any for under 200 on the internet. i can check the scrapyard but they mostly only keep vintage/antique stuff. i did put a drill bit in the nozzle and reshape the deformed tip, put the venturi back on and the motor fired right up, so im sure i can make it work for the time being, but ideally id find a new jet.
or have somebody reallllly good at soldering light brass to build it up and i can reshape it
