just did a carb rebuild. boat sat up last year without having stabil ran through it. Now the motor turns over, starts and runs a few seconds when chocked and dies out. New gas and flushed the lines. New battery. What do y'all think could be the problem. I've pulled the drain plug on the carb and clean gas came out.

Doesn't mean something hasn't found it's way in to the carbatooter! Remove carb and do a through cleaning. Post back and let us know! One thing, Is fuel pump working?

where would the fuel pump be on this motor? pulled the filter thing on the right side towards the back. pumped the bulb and gas shot out. pulled the plug on the carb and squezzed the bulb, again gas poured out.

does the hole on the cap filter have to line up with the oval hole on the fuel pump?

No. If it was the fuel pump, it would start and run a couple of minutes before the fuel in the carb. bowl ran dry.

Did you pop the welch plug on the carb and clean out the idle circuit holes underneath? Won't idle or run without those being clean.

Same problem....new gas, new water seperator filter, new plugs....gotta be gas. New o-rings at fuel pump, and new gasket. gas not leaking from fuel pump. This is an older 35 Johnson..guess might try new fuel pump. Love ethenol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Use Stabil gas treatment but really don't think that is working correctly. Not technical enough to rebuild the fuel pump nor carbs.

fuel pump is an easy rebuild, also the carb.look at marine store up top or marineengine.com.punch in model number of engine and look under carb.shows all the pieces .if standing in bac of motor fuel pump is on right side.unscrew the two lower nuts and pump comes off head.put 2 nut and bolts on the two lower you just took off.pump bulb a few times.is fuel leaking out?if not it is ok.also you might wanna take a clear fuel line from carb to fuel pump and see whats going on in the fuel line.first thing is to buy a carb rebuild kit for it.clean everything spotless

Don't know why you would think that the fuel pump is the problem, unless that the problem fixes itself when you pump the primer bulb.

The high speed needle wasn't attached to the float, so when the float dropped, the needle wouldn't pull out, starving the carb for gas. Took her out Sat morning and Sat night...ran perfect
