Can anyone tell me approximately how far out from fully seated the slow speed mixture control should be set to as a base line to get the motor started? I just had to clean out my carb and took it all apart, and I took a sample of where it was by counting the turns in to fully seated, and set it back to this amount when finished, however I had been messing with it too much prior to determining the carb was dirty to be sure it is at a good starting point. I counted 3.4 full rotations in to fully seated...

Also if you can give me some insight of proceedures to adjust it properly... Lastly, what is the "cam" thing under the flywheel that is used to open the throttle on the carb, is it something to do with Timing? Last year, I could idle the hand grip throttle all the way down and it would idle, now it has to be cranked open part way to get it to idle or it'll stall, thefore I'm thinking about the slow speed adjustment setting...

Any other recomendations?

The idle mixture screw should be set at 1? turns from seated as its initial setting.

If it wont idle at near that the you still have not got the carb clean.

See the Engine FAQ board for a guide to adjusting carbs.

The cam thing and the little roller on the carb linkage are all set up as part of a mysterious process called "Link and Sync".
At first the engine speed is increased by altering the ignition timing with virtually no increase in the throttle valve opening on the carb. that starts to open later.
