:D Ya me too :D

Long day today, replaced the trailer lights with new LED's and had a short to ground. I can't believe how EZ-Loader grounded the lights with a 6" hook bolt that wraps around the rear crossmember bolt  Of course it was rusted, needed to heat the nut and rethread the hook bolt. A one hour job turned into a 3 hour job

Hoping this week goes better and the boat will have the transom in so we can get back to pic's of progress !

Ok guys, new trouble spot. I want to replace all the rollers on my ez-loader with the yellow poly type rollers. The original black rubber rollers are leaving smudge marks on the new paint

Here's the issue. I removed one and took the measurements. H = 4.5", W = 3.5", Shaft is 1" and bearing length is 1 1/8th. I've looked everywhere and these sizes don't seem to match exactly, is this normal ? I see alot of 3" x 5" rollers will these work or do I need exact match ?

Any suggestions will be appreciated :D

Thanks

Well Q, I really can't help with the sizing issue but I will say that I got a screaming good deal from this fella, he even threw a bunch of extra stuff in the box!

http://motors.shop.ebay.com/thetrai...kw=&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3911.m270.l1313

I know they aren't Stoltz but they are waaaaayyyyyy less $$:D

Heh, heh, that's funny Jas, This guy is like 30 minutes from my house. I had looked at his site but was unsure about sizes. I called him and they are the correct ones, BUT, he's out of stock right now :D $10 each, plus hog rings and washers, ouch

There's no end in site, time to break out the checkbook

Thank You Jas !

Got a little more done on the transom tonight. Applied another coat of epoxy to the 2 inside pieces of the transom and put them together.

Hoping it dries well overnight.

Next thing we need is the transom drains, I think I found them, 1" x 1 7/8" for about $2 each. But $13 shipping

I see a flaring tool they sell for about $30, There must be a better way and I'm sure you guys have figured it out.

Any tips Guys ?

Thanks

Yes, I read on here somewhere someone said if you have a few different sized ball peen hammers you can do it as good as the tool can. Some how clamp something to back up the tube on the side that is already flared, then take the smallest hammer and start forming the new flange, and just work your way up to a large ball peen hammer.

Thanks DJ, I knew someone had a good idea. :D

Overall this resto has gone well but I must say finding/ordering everything although fun at times can be a drain also.

I ordered 16 new poly rollers today and I won't see them for at least a week or so.

I've realized the need to order parts wayyyyyyy before I think I need them or it keeps delaying the schedule. As much as I hate to buy everything at once this week I'm going to place orders for almost all things needed to complete this so this can move along at a better pace. 8 weeks till oening day on Salmon and it can't be missed :D

Thankfully you guys have made the project alot more enjoyable and very informative when I've hit a road block.

Thanks to all.

That's funny, I ordered a bunch of stuff recently as well. I've had this bad cold that keeps hanging on and sucked the motivation right out of me, so I keep trying to plan out what I still needed, and would make lists, and place orders. Last week my wife says, "How much more stuff do you need, there's a box at the door every day". That was one expensive cold I tell ya......

Heh, heh, Well fortunatly it sounds like we all have "understanding wives" or it would be much harder to pull all this stuff off :D

Hope you get well soon DJ !

Still need to apply Gluvit and I'm thinking about floatation............. Wasn't going to do anything due to the extra wieght and cost but I'm rethinking it now.

Looked at solid noodles for $59 a case of 5' x 2.75" ones. I would need at least 3 cases by quick estimation so with $30 shipping it's $270.00 from INYO pools, Yikes !

Do you guys know how much a case of these wiegh and does 60 noodles sound right for a 16'

Thanks

I fit 72 noodles in my 18' so 60 sounds about right.

Great progress Q!

Psssst, Q! I have to caution you buddy, there are noodle haters reading your posts - here is where many of us grab our noodles, cheap and chipper...

Thanks Jas, I'll keep the NOODLE THING QUIET from now on. :D They are out of stock right now, I'll keep checking but install is coming up very soon so the need to pay more or go with out is appoaching. 1 week and the floor will be in.

I'm affraid to ask about other options seeing it's a touchy subject.

Who knew ? I wonder if pipe insulation would work............... upset folks

Thanks for helping guys !

Flotation debates and cage fighting are really pretty much in the same league:eek:

Do you have a Dollar Tree near you Q? I know those noodles should be heading to the stores any day now with spring on the way. You can always go with the pink/blue foam board insulation from Depot/Lowes. The pipe insulation is basically the same thing as noodles, just adds up super fast.

Some fellas around here would recommend pour in foam and it has it's merits....

Though...

Huh, I can't really thing of any:eek:;):D Gotta go!

I personally think the foam boards from lowe's and surrounded/tacked in with closed cell foam is the best cheapest way to go. The foam board is about 3.50 a square foot and the foam from US Composites (is there a cheaper place?) is about 8$/sq ft for 8 sq ft. If you are really cheap you can use spray can foam (which is open cell but if you are just using it to hold the foam in you should be OK). Pool noodles are not particularly waterproof, have you ever picked one out of a pool that has been floating? They do soak up water a fair bit, so I have to put myself in the 'hater' category. White styrofoam will float for years. If you are going to spend money on epoxy go ahead and use real flotation instead of something you get from the Dollar Tree!

TS

Not sure what Swim Noodles you use, but... Mine NEVER absorb ANY water. Totally closed cell foam. The ones from Dollar Tree ARE Closed Cell and WILL NOT absorb water.
