Re: 1980 Searay - First boat

Thanks steven for the link, nice, i've been looking around for this but can't find it. Time to do some reading...

Home Cookin - Yep i'm a bit nervous and startign to second guess myself if i'm over my head but i love the challenge. I do have both titles, no worries about that issue (been burnt so many times with classic cars, i've learned my lesson)

Right now i'm just racking my brain on how to park all my toys at my house. I thought I was gonig to be able to park the boat next to my house on the other side of my driveway (on grass) but the trailer is to low and it will not hop the curve.

Thanks for the advise about the hull, right now i'm just trying to get this engine to start/run.

I found my serial by getting the serial of the out drive and matching it to the engine that was sold with it. Granted it could be different if someone switched out the engine, though you do have most of the serial it looks like.

You need to buy or download a manual for your specific engine/drive combo, you can download from i boats. While not highly advisable for long periods(i never do it but some do) you could try to start it with the drive up if you really wanted to. It is more important to have water running to it than be overly concerned with the drive right now. If you can get it to fire then address the tilt issue. Or you could take the hydrolic rams off the outdrive and lower it manually(two people reccomended) and try to fire it that way as well. I would probabl;y go option 2 if it were mine, depending on where you live you would want that outdrive down so it can be winterized anyway. Its only a coulple of clips or nuts depending on how its set up I cant tell from the photos. You would need someone to pull the pins and move the rams while you gently lower the drive.

Utah - thanks for the advice, exactly what i wanted to hear. I will transfer my focus on to the engine and lower the drive down by removing the rams

Check near the starter for a serial number tag. Should be a bit aft of the starter.
