1980 Sears gamefisher 7.5, Shift ?

Does this engine have reverse or only forward? Shift does not go into reverse and decal on side only shows arrow pointing forward. Thanks dave

far as I know Dave it's forward or neutral only. I had a 1982 model and it had no reverse, just swivel the motor around 180 degrees for reverse.

If you look there are slots in the shaft, and a plate in the shaft towards the back. This allows you to spin the motor 180 and bend the handle up. This is reverse and the slots and plate keep the engine from jumping up when throttled. N and FWD control only on the shifter.
