Welcome to the drydock, TT. Home Depot carries the 5200 and probably any local marine dealer. And Wally World has the Attwood version. Just don't use silicone, it wont seal as well.

I would save some bucks for a steering cable. It might be working now but it looks like the end is near.

I like Spike and he'll be fishing and riding with you. Have fun fixing and boating.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Attwood-2.8-oz-Polyurethane-Sealant-White/16351035TT - This the Attwood version of 5200.

Your second Wally link, 3M 3700, might be 5200. If it is you will be throwing most of it away. It starts to cure in the tube after it's opened. Small sizes are better unless you can use most of it within a few days after opening. Hope this helps.

ill get the attwood one. they carry it in stock at my walmart. also found out the 3700 is the same thing as the 5200 its just in a bigger tubs. i did find the 5200 in the smaller tube so which ever i find first ill grad. deffinity not looking forward to spending 300 bucks for that mdo wood this week. o well. should be worth it when im done. im still not sure if im just going to put the pink cut to size foam in or pour in foam. somethings telling me with this boat being a 1980's i think ill just use the cut to size foam just in case i gotta pull it back out. that pour in foam looks like its a pain to remove once it is poured. . anyways hopefully ill get to do some work on it this weekend and get some pictures for you guys.

Paint color chosen. Deep Metalic Blue.
1 coat primer.
2 coats color.
2 coats clear.
should be strong but flexable.
paint was recomended by boat marina. called the duplicolor customer service number and told them my use for there paint and they said it would hold up just fine. they recommended to use there primer and clear coat as it will all be compatible and i wont have any problems. i guess we will see what happens. anyone use this stuff on a boat befor?http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/300/318/318-BSP204_2.jpg

Duplicolor:
Primer pn: BSP100
Color pn: BSP204
Clear pn: BSP300

TT - Go with the foam sheets. I think it's cheaper than the pour-in, not as messy and like you said, a lot easier to remove if you have to.

I don't know about the Duplicolor paint. Many of us use Rustoleum.

can you take a good quality picture(readable) of the saftey tag. how does the boat drive with the 35hp on it. this is my first outboard boat so im hoping this 2 cycle 55hp is kinda fun.

Re: 1980 Starcraft Kingfisher 160 restoration "Spike"

OK so last night i sanded the aluminum hull and pressure washed it. then degreased it to be safe and started spraying some sealer on the floor. left the center untouched for know. after i get the rest done ill tape off a 4-6in strip to funnel effect any water in under the floor and of course tape of the sides and make a nice clean straight line. this is just 1 thick coat. 1/8-1/4 think with one pass. this stuff is nice imo. checked it this morning and it was dry rough but flexable. does kinda shrink together when it drys so ill deffinitly need to do another coat or 2 but i planed to do that so. i bought 6 cans of that sealers and already used 4. i think i will need alot more. maybe ill finish the first coat and instead of buying more spray cans ill buy some of the roll on stuff. o wait just remembered the cans are on sale right know with my copany discount istead of 14 bucks a can its only 4.26 a can. ill order a case or two (12 in a case) never hurts to have extra!

as you can see i havent removed the rear section yet because i have to crawl into the boat i was worried about flexing the boat to much and causeing problems so ill finish the front then foam then wood. then ill start the rear. then move to the decks.

Re: 1980 Starcraft Kingfisher 160 restoration "Spike"

ok not much progress this weekend as it seems to rain every night when was getting ready to do some work. o well. i did get the lower unit on the motor all rebuilt and got the unit back together. just still need to get the head to the machine shop. broke about 6 bolts that hold the valve cover or what ever you call it on a boat a few bolts broke. i was able to drill them out for the most part. think ill heli coil them but i might just let the shop go over the head. will be buying all the wood next weekend and get the waterproofing stuff. also borrowed the neighbors skid loader to remove the motor. not that its heavy but because it will be easier and what man passes the opertunity to use heavy ish equipment, lol
till next week.

just some updates. got the floor in. redoing the transom. added some piping for the center counsel to run all the electrical into it. decided it would be better to do that instead of letting them lay under the floor in the water. also added some stabilizer straps in across the boat under the floor as well as added some light aluminum sheets across the floor seams. laid carpet just haven't got those pictures up yet. will be finishing the counsel this weekend hopefully. thanks for watching and following sorry for the huge delay just got back from across seas from the military.

Re: 1980 Starcraft Kingfisher 160 restoration "Spike"

the two holes in the back of the floor are deck drains. hopefully they will help keep the water from gathering on the deck.
i did go against some of your opinions and used a crap ton of Thompson water sealer. seems to do good while it sat out side un-covered while i was gone. as for the far back i was thinking turning one of the sides into battery bays that way i separate the battery's and gas containers. think safety right? the other side will be a storage spot for the vests and safety stuff , decided not to do a livewell because i decided to do a flush deck and not high rise the front. so in the meantime ill just make a cheap cooler into a livewell. I have got alot of crap for turning this boat into a center counsel but its what i like so thats what im doing. after i painted the inside of the boat with metallic gray Ive decided not to paint the boat blue and orange like my Florida gator colors Ive decided to just keep the gray. not sure what colors to do the letters.
