My 9.9 Evinrude model E10rcid was purchased from a guy that said it was running great- then stopped and he found that the gas tank was full of water. I have cleaned the carb, but did not pull out the plugs that you knock into place in the carb body. The motor is getting spark and will sometimes run for 3 to 5 seconds then die. My question is when I screw in the "lean /rich screw" do I seat it and the put the knob on, or seat it , back it off a turn and then put the knob on? Once the knob is on you can't get more that one turn in either direction.
The next question is that how does the "slow/fast " idle knob work.. Looks like there is nothing that can even move since there is a bolt and fixed post that the arm fits on, and I can't see where turning that knob can move anything=== assuming that the parts I am looking at is original.
Since this motor does not have points, I am assuming the timing should be OK since when it does start it runs without missing.
Any suggestions will be appreciated
