Rain all day today, I’ve had my 1/2” ply waiting in the boat ready to be cut to size for my flooring and today’s the day I’ll begin.
Got my 1/8” thick, 1-1/2” leg length aluminum angle all measured, measured, cut, measured, and riveted in to place lol. Used 0.183” diameter countersink rivets to fasten to stringers and 1/4” solid rivets to double the supports where floor pieces meet. I aligned them to have 16” centres and went with 1/8” thick to allow me space to add 1/8” flat bar beneath the floor where the pedestal bases will go for some added meat.
Plan is to get the floor cut, and holes drilled where it will rivet into subfloor framing before sealing with OTF and painting it prior to the vinyl/carpet top which I still haven’t decided on.
Going to test fit and confirm all of the flooring fits up perfect and locate the area where my access hatch for the fuel tank will be prior to installing the tank. I used a scotchbrite pad on my orbital to clean up the tank and prep it for an epoxy coating and gluing some HDPE runners along the bottom. The tank is going to be held in place with aluminum angle between my stringers.
Should be able to begin making a console prototype out of some angle cardboard I got from a closet organizer that the Mrs. wanted lol. Will hopefully have an update post this evening with the floor work in progress. Cheers
