Hi all. I have an 82, 15 HP. that I need advice on. If I let go of the throttle arm the motor speed slows to a very slow speed. I would like to adjust the tiller arm a little so that it stays where I set it but I can't find any reference to the adjustment in my manual. There is a part under the handle called a friction ring but there is no adjustment on it. Can anyone help? Thanks, Rick.

it's suppose to do that. you are operating a tiller and you don't let go. it thinks you fell out of the boat.

Re: 1982,15 Evinrude Throttle Tension adjustment

Thanks for the reply. I thought that myself a couple of weeks back. I posted a question regarding how to properly set the idle adjustment speed control (beside the gas connection) as mine hits the end of it's threads before it makes contact with the vertical throttle shaft. There were several comments made to me then that the throttle just needed to be stiffened up so that it would stay where ever I let go of it. When I let go completely the 14 ft. aluminium slows to about 1.4 MPH and I wand to troll at approx. 2.2 to 2.8. Any suggestions. I would have thought the idle speed adjustment would allow me to do this but it never makes contact with the shaft. Thanks, Rick.
