1982 Johnson 15hp water pump housing driveshaft seal

How to install the seal in the top of the housing? I can't seem to get it to fit!

Should be 2 seals back to back?
Did you buy an original kit or after market?

I bought a full factory OMC kit. Only one oil seal in the box as per the kit contents list. It looks like the seal should be pushed into the top of the impeller housing (there's a recess for it) but it seems to big and won't fit. Does it press fit in?

Normally if a steel cage they are press fitted. Contents of kits change from time to time and are not always what the original parts lists describe.
