On my V6's and my daughter's V4, I removed the hose barb from the lower cowling and it's mating end on the end of the fuel supply hose. Once removed there is a sizeable hole in the cowling. I threaded the fuel hose through that hole and connected/clamped it directly to the hose barb on the fuel pump. That eliminates a fuel restriction point and a potential air leak source. Make sure you connect the hose with a sweeping arc-don't pinch/bend the incoming line.
