when running my suzuki dt40 with the water flush muffs attached i get a steady constant stream of water then as the engine heats up to operating temperature the constant stream of water turns to a fine spray with exhaust gas from the pee hole. is this normal as ive changed the pump housing, gasket, wear plate and impellor.

there is no blockage in the water tube, the thermstat is also working as the water is warm/hot

Re: 1982 suzuk dt40

Hi Simond
Ihave a DT75 (1985)and hope that yours is similar. On my engine there are 2 places the cooling water is visible. The first (pee hole) is on the starboard side of the engine cover and shoots about a 2mm diameter stream of water where it is visible to the side. It is fed by a black tube attached to the lower end of the engine. I think this should never emit exhaust gas, it would mean that the water jacket is nearly empty. The second place is at the rear of the engine just below the cover and water pours out through about a 10mm hole. I believe this is the water that has passed through the thermostat and you should see the flow change as the thermostat opens. It is common to see exhaust spray here on my engine. If this is the only "pee hole" on your engine it sounds OK.
Best regards Sir Les Pat
