Is it not a screw in compression tester?

PM him your email address, the moderators will be along soon to remove your post, no public email addys aloud. Is it not a screw in compression tester?

O ya, I screwed it in. Took one spark plug out. And pulled the pull chord 4 , 5times. Are you thinking piston rings ?

Something isn't working, got another motor you can test the gauge on? Zero on both holes is just weird unless the head gasket isn't holding at all. Bolts for the head tight? Zero on 1 maybe, both, no way unless the head is badly warped and I mean twisted.

So, I just measured my 6.5hp honda Lawn mower and that was measuring at 50 -60. ...So... And there is no way my heads are badly warped. They are clean, and the walls are nice and smooth. The bolts for the head are passed hand tightened (snugged)... and i did replace that main gasket right there.

Typically you test with both plugs out.

Put one plug back in and test the other hole without the plug in, if the gauge now reads there is a break in the gasket between the cylinders or a an issue with the block or the head. If the rings were that badly worn on both cylinders you'd be able to feel it pull starting it, it would have ZERO resistance, nadda nothing.

Bk, Sorry for poor numbers.
Correction: I tighten alot of the bolts.. (some were loose) and got a compression of around 60 psi for each cylinder. So thats that. Should I go and start it up , /try it.?

Shold be higher, more like 90+ , did you not torque the head down with a torque wrench in the proper pattern? My old 76 15 has 96 on both cylinders.

So, ok with doing another test. I found that after two pulls with each cylinder, the compression builds up to a little above 90... So the compression is building up.

Good, should start now, giver!

But going back to my question, did you torque the head down in the pattern in the book to spec. This is crucial as you can see what happens when you don't  Not trying to be a nag but I'd like to see it run the next time you take it out and the time after that and so on.

Sounds like a 15hp evinrude! Now set your idle mix and you should be good to go.

Awesome.
