1983 MERCURY 200 HP BLACK MAX THERMOSTAT LOCATION?

CAN ANYONE HELP ME IDENTIFY THE LOCATION OF THE THERMOSTAT/S FOR THIS 1983 200HP MERC OUTBOARD? I'M RUNNING HOT WITH NO INDICATOR STREAM AND I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE THERMOSTAT/S. IS THERE A HOSE COMMING OFF OF EACH ONE AND THEN CONNECTED INTO THE PEA TUBE? THANKS, ROB

The housing for each tstat are located at the top of each cylinder head, right above the # 1 and # 2 spark plugs.

Have changed the water pump recently?

THANX, i just got the motor and i was told the h20 pump was changed last season. i think it was run in salt and not flushed with fresh. sat for nearly a year that way so i'm hoping tstat is the prob. thanx

Try it out. But if the tstats are closed you should still get a weak dribble out the tell-tale at idle plus water should be spitting out the relief ports.

I hope the waterpump WAS changed for sure.

you need to change that impeller. specially after sitting and being used in salt. safe, cheap insurance. takes less than an hour and only need 3 wrenches.

THANKS GUYS. I WILL CHANGE THAT IMPELLER. THERMOSTATS WERE CAKED WITH SALT OXIDATION AND NON-FUNCTIONAL. ADDITIONALLY, ONE OF THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING COVERS BROKE AS IT CAME OFF. ANY IDEA WHERE TO GET THIS PART?
