Do not try to remove the plastic fittings from the bowl. Just soak everything as per instructions.

DH:
The things that look like freeze plugs are cupped and fit loosely into the old openings. I am assuming I need to use a vise, c-clamp or press to push the center of it and expand... just checking in here first. Is that right?

Also, the kit has several parts I don't have... little white plastic caps with a smaller hole in them, red trim rings about 1/4" with "ears" on them... I hope this is just because one kit fits several years.

Thanks!

The plugs go in just like you think they do. Set them in place and then tap the center with a hammer & punch. Then add your sealer. Dont over-think this (clamps, vices etc), just follow the directions in the service manual. These are very simple, easy carbs. Dont out-trick yourself.

Youre absolutely correct. The kits cover several years and motors. There will be some extra pieces.

DH: I just have a Clymer manual from the library :)

I guess a 1/4" bolt will work for a good punch?

Sealer? Gimmee a clue and I am off to Autozone!

Thanks Basscat, will go watch now!

That's a great video, but my little freeze plug caps don't fit tight enough to go tap-tap with an extension and fit tightly...

Well, I will go whack it some!

Thanks for the video link.

Well, I took a 3/8" extension and used the small end... like the video... whack! whack! and it stuck... cool.

Opened the second kit, same thing... third kit... no brass freeze plugs... same part number on the bag, no plugs. So, I have to go to the dealer in the morning.

Looks like Bombaider's QC is a little lacking... two out of three ain't bad for Meatloaf but for parts it sucks.

Maybe I'll see you guys on the river this weekend. Wife just told me that she wants to go fishing early Sunday am. That means that I'll take her.
