She fires right away but won’t keep running without using the ignition primer. Has my fuel pump failed?

Model # of your motor ?-----If it has a primer valve, then your fuel pump is providing fuel pressure to it.----So your fuel pump is indeed working.----Sounds like carburetors need cleaning.

Thanks. I see I can get and unbranded rebuild kit including new floats from eBay for a fraction of what an OEM would cost. Thoughts?

easy stuff first... soak it ..... clean it .....blow it floats are probably still very good as well as carb body parts .

could be just bit of crud blocking orifices, has suggested post#2

I have a 6 H.P. kicker motor for which I purchased an unbranded carb rebuild kit. I think it was about $15. I put it in and had nothing but problems after the first use on the lake. Took the carb off again, and found that the gaskets inside the carb were distorted and looked like they were melted. They were junk! I ordered a new carb kit, and made sure that I bought an OEM kit. It was about $55. I put it in the carb, and the motor still runs like a new motor. This work was done in the early spring of 2020. I would go with the OEM kit if I were you. Gaskets were made of a much diffarant material than the cheap kit. It was well worth the extra cost.

As long as I have them off and apart, I figured I’d put them in the ultrasonic and reassemble with new parts from a rebuild kit.

that is my sentiment exactly. those chinese ones are so crappy it isnt worth saving $15. new kits are only $20-$25 each. not a spot you want to start skimping!

Carbs removed, cleaned in the ultrasonic, and replaced with OEM re-build kit. The bowls were full of what I would describe as wet brown sugar. Fuel pump screen and gasket replaced too.

Started right up and idles smooth. Thanks.
