Hello. My name is Eric. Awhile back my Grandfather gave my his boat. Man my heart raced! He put this boat together with the help of my only uncle and myself, (when i was only 8). So has i was saying. I got this boat, my Grandfather tells me that the dont run, and it has been off the trailer in 2-3 years. So I spent a few hours working on this motor and i'll be damned.... I got it to start and idle on the hose. I was shocked. So next test was to hit the water. well..... This is where thing went bad. Well off the trailer she sounded GREAT and ran STRONG. for about 5-10 mins. Then she died. While Grandpa was towing me back I decided to try to spin the flywheel, it spun with ease. my heart sank. But then she restarted. At this point she was acking like she was either loading up(even with cover off i never smelled gas), or starving for gas. But was running. I put her back on the trailer. Today Grandpa stopped by and ask if I had check compression on this motor. I said no. So we did. This what I got starting with #1-40psi #3-80psi #5-60psi #2-70psi #4-80psi #6-45psi....... So what do i do now? I can do most repairs. I looking for advice. Again this is 1984 Evinrude 150xp, model# E150STLCRD. And from what Grandpa has to say it was the fastest model that was put out that year, even putting the 200's to shame.
Thank you for your time,
Eric.
