i got a 84 evinrude 90 horse thats idles high. it runs at 2100 rpms and i cant get it go any lower. cable off , carbs are fine, spark, timing is fine, im stumped!
its at the shop now but the mechanic is stumped and im just trying to get some ideas. someone on another site has suggested air getting in the crankcase somewheres. whatcha think?
Check the throttle lever to the time plate connexion, then adjust idle with cables on, there is no spring returning the throttle.
I don't rust mechanics, they always do something to see you again in my country.
ouch this hurts!!!!! pull the head and the top of one piston had mud in it! also a broken ring hanging off the side.. not sure if it needs to be sleeved or not until i get the pistons out. worked out a deal, and getting the motor tore down, powerhead redone, all new internals, rings and water pump for 700 bucks. not a bad deal.
