1984 (?) Mariner 30A EL Carb Needle Seat Valve question

My Mariner (Yamaha-built serial number 30A EL 689 410945) will not open up over 3200 RPMs. No backfiring, smooth idle, revs up quickly to 3200 RPM as top-end. No fuel restrictions, new fuel pump, new fuel lines. I thoroughly cleaned the carb, installed a new air metering screw, ensured the jets were not obstructed, and adjusted the new float to parallel with the bowl gasket. This did not improve performance.
I did not receive a new needle/seat valve with the rebuild kit. I purchased one on eBay (Mercury part # 80593M) and it is the wrong part. I have the original needle/seat soaking in carb cleaner now.
Can someone provide the correct part number for the needle seat valve?
Also, is it possible that a faulty coil may be the culprit even though I have no backfiring throughout my current RPM range?
Thanks in advance.
If this should be in the Yamaha forum, I will post it there also.

Some history always helps.---------How long have you owned it ?-----Did this problem show up suddenly ?---------Start with a compression test and report the numbers.------Test for strong spark on all leads.-----Spark should easily jump a gap of 3/8" or 1 cm.

I have only had it for a few months, and no history on it at all. It was stored in a garage for a few years and started occasionally, but never put overboard. I just installed a tach recently to monitor RPMs, but it has never "opened up" in the dozen or so times I have had it in the water. Compression is 125 psi/cylinder. New NGK plugs gapped to .030. Plenty of spark.

Got it! The needle/seat valve that was in the carb had a c-clip to hold in the needle valve. The new one did not. Totally different design. I decided to try it anyway, since the threads were the same. Re-adjusted the float and put it all back together. I figured I had nothing to lose but time. It ran perfect and opened up to 5200 rpm! I'm just as happy as if I had good sense!
