Hi folks.....I've encountered these 'screw-thingys' - my own technical term. How do I remove them? Here's a picture of the front:

Also, does anyone know what type of bolt I need to secure my 50HP Mercury to my boat? I've misplaced the old boats. Is there a certain type other than SS?

Could have asked this here ^^^, rather then a new topic.

If you do start new topics related to specifics of a rebuild, cross post those topics so anyone thats here, can follow along w the new topic too, and vice versa.

No idea what those thru hull fittings are for, never seen ones like them before.

What are (were?) they connected to on the inside of the hull?

Those "screw-thingys" look like Rivnuts to me. Dunno what they might have been used for in your application, but they can probably be carefully drilled out.

Well, it's been a long time since my last update, but the weather in Northern VT has not been cooperating. Here is the current progress....new floor, (still need to put foam in and then secure the floor to the ribs. Any advice on what type of foam, (pink or blue) from HD or Lowes? Does it matter? Ugh...

Just realized the picture makes the cedar look awful....oh well it was cheaper than plywood covered in epoxy and all I could afford. new floor.jpg

Actually looks pretty nice. How do you intend to seal the butt joints? I suppose will have to allow water flow to the bilge.
