I have an opportunity to pick up a 1984 200 Yamaha for free but the foot is cracked. I havent had it pressure tested but even after being welded I doubt it would hold pressure. I found a 1986 150 Vmax with low compression for $800. Is it possible that I can swap the mid and lower sections from the 150 to the 200?

have you looked up the part #s to see if they were the same?
if just the lower unit is bad why change the mid section?

Im honestly not sure where to look to find the part numbers for yamahas but I will give it a shot today. The 200 has a 25in mid and the 150 Vmax has a 20in mid. I have been running a 25in Johnson 140 but originally the 1974 Mako 20 came with a 20in variant So I was hoping to get back to basics.

Ok so Im thinking the Lower Units may be of different castings but they use the same driveshafts. The non-VMax 150 of the 1986 vintage uses the same lower as the 1984 200 so I think I may be in business.

If anyone has any experience that I am lacking please chime in and point me in the right direction. I do get the controls with both engines so thats a plus.
