1985 125 Force Power Trim,trims and tilts up but won't go down

I have a 1985 1215 Force with a prestolite trim on it. I replaced the valve body on it about 2 years ago because it was leaking down. Now Ihave the oppsite problem, it trims and tlits up fine but it will not tilt or trim down. any help is appreciated.<br />I tried a search but could'nt find this problem.

hookset56<br />i had a similar problem on my yamaha 115. the fix was replacing the trim switch on the remote.<br />good luck, madmike

The motor and switch seem to be working fine. I can hear the motor running the up mode and down mode. I took the switch off and jumped across it and had the same results.

Hey Hookset,<br />I had a similar problem w/ my '87 125. My prob. turned out to be one of the relays. Under the hood if you are looking at the back of the boat on the left side there are two relays, one for up and one for down. I got two at Advanced Auto for about $15. You can test this by switching them but they both have to be plugged in (even the bad one) to make the circut. Switch them and if this is your prob. the motor will go down and not up.<br />Good Luck

if you can hear the motor running in both up & down modes the problem isnt electrical.It could be low fluid level tilt the motor all the way up,lock in position,& check the fluid by removing the fill plug the reservoir should be full to the bottom of the fill hole..Hope this helps

Want to thank everyone for the help. I cracked a couple of the lines and nothing happened. the Next day I trimmed it up and it trimmed down, no problem. I don't know what happened, but I like it. Must have been a check stuck or something of that nature.
