1985 70 VRO throttle bog on rebuilt carbs...what's next?

I recently rebuilt the carbs on my 70 VRO, hoping (based one what I have seen on this forum and others) that it would solve my throttle bog (WOT kills the engine) problem. No luck (as an aside, I was surprised to find that both high and low speed jets were fixed, and that the carb kits did not provide replacements...do those typically not need replacement or is it just something that has to be ordered separately?).

The symptom is that going from neutral to WOT more often than not results in the engine dying. I would have told you that it was a bigger problem with a warm engine, but this past weekend it seemed to be happening even with a cold engine.

What else should I check?

Those carbs should have a low speed adjustable needle accessible from the front of the carb. If they are set too lean, it will stumble under acceleration.


-Did you do a "Link N Sink" ?
-Did you try firming up the primer bulb while bogging?
-Do you have strong spark on all cylinders?

Both the low and high speed are simple orifice plugs.

I will try the primer bulb trick...if it makes a difference what does that indicate?

I haven't checked anything on the spark side...just assumed it was a fuel problem. What is the easiest way to check for a spark?
