The motor runs very well and then when I leave it for a week or so, it won't start. It makes a squeeling sound when I try to start it. I pulled a plug and sprayed some quick start in one cyl and it started and ran fine all weekend again. Leave for the week and the same thing happened again. What is the most likely issue?

Any squealing sound isn't a good sign!

After letting it sit a week or so as you state, remove the spark plugs, grab the flywheel with your hands and turn it slowly just to obtain a feel of resistance.

Now, drop the lower unit and turn the flywheel again. If the resistance remains the same, the problem is within the powerhead.... BUT if the powerhead now turns much freely, the problem is no doubt within the lower unit.

This doesn't cure your problem but it's a starting point of trouble shooting.

Ok, ill take a look. The squeeling noise may just be the recoil after listening again.

So I figured, I would clean the carb as well just to make sure that was not the problem. The float was rotted pretty bad and may have been sticking. Motor started right up after carb clean. Ran good after but we'll see about next week.

what fuel/oil ratio are you running in the motor? probably not the issue , but dont go with the 100:1 thats on the sticker, go with 50:1
