I have removed the ring with the little eyelets but don't know what to do next. Tilt/trim motor is shot so I need to be able to manually lift the motor. Thanks for any advice and suggestions.

I think you mean that you removed the internal circlip that holds in the valve. If you run the motor, it would probably blow out the valve BUT---This is a bad idea. You will end up getting water into the pump and ruining it.

Your best course of action would be to completely remove the trim/tilt unit since there is no manual release. Two bolts hold it to the transom clamps, three bolts hold the motor and pump and one bolt holds the top of the tilt cylinder. Then, buy a length of 7/16 diameter stainless rod to use as a tilt adjusting rod. Of course, there will not be a reverse lock and if you put the engine into reverse at any speed, it will fly up out of the water.

SOME??? of the T/T motors came with a manual release.
DON"T mess with it!!! You will only cause damage to the unit.
Even though it's not working, you don't wanna ruin it.
Unhook a couple of hyd.lines and it will lift.

Do you have any suggestion as to what I can do to get it running? I inherited the boat and despite its sentimental value, I'd rather not dump a lot of money into it. The motor runs fine. Everything else is in working order I just can't get the motor to lift. I can't seem to find much help on the Internet other than this forum and I've heard bad things about the seloc for this model.
