I found an used 1985 50HP Force outboard for sale.

Are these any good? I've not heard much about them.

This is a Chrysler based engine, built a year after Chrysler was sold to US Marine. Mercury didn't enter the picture till 5 years later.

Gong rate on these in good running condition is $500

Not running or not running right... $250.

Re: 1985 Force 50HP - Any Good?

Thanks, guys.

How hard are parts to find?

I've found 2 on my local CL. An 85 for $125, claims it runs great (I'm a little leary) and an 86 for $500 or trade for smaller OB (offered him my current 28hp Johnson). Should go for both, then I'd have a spare for parts.....

They are a smiple motor and will last a very long time if you take care of them. Parts are all over the place. I have a 1980 75hp and it runs like new. I would buy both.

Thanks, guys!

I'm much more confident in going after these motors. I was just worried about parts availibility.
