Nauti- I have been reading about this and yes I do have the tools, adjustable timing light and the mechanical know how. Although sometime it seems like she has a mind of her own and does the weirdest, craziest **** as if to say, "boating?, hell no, knot today"! Thanks for the advise. Knowing timing at idle and at 2600rpm is good idea.

Swing and a miss... Received package Friday, installed this morning. Pretty simple system, so it seems. Batteries charged, key on have 11.53v to purple wire. Manuel says no less than 10.5v. Only other wire to supply anything to system is Grey (tach), but have no spark. Have an inline spark tester that is between coil and cap and nothing. Un-plugged grey just in case it is bad and grounding coil. Nothing.

Checked Power again to purple from harness, 11.53v. Tested volts while cranking from purple 9.03v. So, though maybe it needs more, lets put 12v to purple going to coil. Ran jumper right to battery, 11v while cranking, no spark.

So, pretty simple ONE wire system is turning complicated. Called Michigan Motorz where I bought. On a call back list. Good times.

Some back ground to the story here. This all started with no RPM higher than 2900. Found choke plate linkage not opening all the way to trigger secondary upper plates to open with higher rpm. fix that got 4000 and back fire through carb to which I had at 2900rpm as well. Installed inline fuel gauge, no pressure. Had new aftermarket pump, bought new oem pump. Then with all the back and forth in and out of the boat testing this, fixing that, I forgot to turn on the water and burned up the seals in my new outdrive. Replaced all the seals, water pump etc; installed, no spark. I had the lower unit on and off about 6 times because of a wrong water pump not sealing and dumping gear oil out weep hole. 4 hours finding info and diagnosing bad ignition module. So, on the recommendations here I bought the Delco kit. Now we are up to date.

As stated above, installed, no spark. Called MM again and got someone on the phone. According to him the connector between the distributor and the coil has been a problem, has had 3 this month with no spark. Says the connector to the coil, on the coil molded connector pins are not connecting. So, I rigged up some jumper wires and it runs. Yippy right? I pulled jumpers and connected kit wires back up, motor started right up. Pulled, pushed wires around, nothing, can't get it to fail. So, why did it not work before??? Makes me nervous.

As far as NEW OEM fuel pump goes, I have 1psi of pressure. Can pump primmer and get it up to 4psi till I can here it pushing past the float, rev it up and watch the pressure drop back to 1 psi. So, what gives?

And now i have water coming out of the weep hole in lower unit.

Most will agree (I think) that the Delco system is a good system. The connector issue turning into a problem and your not the first to have it but more often the module in the distributer is the issue, many new don' work. Once replaced folks never have an issue again. My guess is its quality control at the factory and some third party vendors (China). If it will do it again, don't know, but if it does happen you know how to get it going again.

The fuel pump only putting out 1 psi is a major issue. Can you clarify what you mean by "pushing past the float"? If it was pushing past the float I see excess fuel going into the intake. Then you would have flooding

Maybe, I just hear it push fuel TO the carb. Have not had cleaner off to actually see it going into intake. Just rebuilt carb. Dont think anything is wrong with it, but at this point I'm questioning my whole being. This thing is driving me crazy. But, yeah no pressure is an issue and this is the second pump basically doing the same thing. I cringe to think the lob on cam is F-ed.

So, you say there is issues with the module as well with this system? That's not good and doesn't make me feel confident about motoring through Lake Superior with one motor.

I'm thinking you may be sucking air, might have a leak in one of the lines or fittings going to the pump.

So, you say there is issues with the module as well with this system? .

No, sorry, a few others which have installed the Delco have had a DOA module in the distributer. Once the bad one was replaced they have had no more issues. Yours was working so I don't think you will have an issue

That's normal and good, it means the passage is clear. They can really fill up with gunk.
