I'm new to the boating world and looking for a entry price level boat. I've read many threads on the wellcraft boats and like the idea of picking up this classic.

The guy is wanting 3300 for it, probably get it for a bit less. He claims it runs very good and had it out until late fall.

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Nothing wrong with an 18' with a 3.0 Mercruiser. Won't be a speed demon but that motor will do fine in that size boat. Parts and service easy to find for that motor and drive. Your biggest concern on an older fiberglass boat is rot in the wooden components of the hull. You want a solid deck and transom. ANY soft spots in the deck are usually indicative of more serious rot in the stringers below. This rot damage is repairable but a major project. That price is about double what I'd expect to pay for that rig in my area.

Although the Wellcraft was probably a higher-end boat when new, that Maxum looks to have been VERY well taken care of. Nice boat.
