I have a 1985 Yamaha 150 ETLK with oil draining from the engine oil resevoir. The oil will collect in the pan and then run down the side of the foot on to the floor. It will eventually drain the resevoir over a few weeks. I do not see any evidence that the resevoir has a crack or hole in it. The oil seems to be coming from the oil pump mounted below the resevoir. If this is the case and it requires a new pump, I would rather bypass the injector pump instead of buying another one and mix my oil and gas. Anyone know what I will have to do to disable the pump so that I may mix my oil and fuel? Thanks in advance.

Re: 1985 Yamaha 150 ETLK Oil Leak

steps to bypass oil system.#1 mix oil in gas at 50:1 ratio and run motor to grt pre-mix into carbs. #2 remove battery cables from battery. #3 use a 10mm swivel or wrench to remove the two bolts holding the oil pump on. remove the oil pump from the engine block and push aside. #4 remove the oil pump "drive" shaft (it has a slit in the end) with a long pair of needle nose. #5 reinstal the oil pump. #6 unplug the 4 wire harnes coming out of the motor oil tank and the harness at the boat oil tank (your oil gauge yellow light will be lit all the time. #7 remove oil from tanks. #8 hook up battery. done. good luck!
