I have a 1986 115eltj. I took the boat for the madien voyage today and it ran ok in idle all the way out to the no wake end. Then i upped it to 2k rpm it ran ok there too. As i started to give it more at about 3k it seemed to bog down. I reached over and pumped the fuel primer ball and it picked right up. I can run it pretty well as long as i pump the ball every once and a whyle. And by that i mean like 2 times per muinite. It dosent seem like the ball is that soft when i pump it but not sure. I had a 15 hp motor that the ball would get so soft that it would suck in but it ran all day like that. Now, here is how i have the fuel system hooked up: There is a 6 gallon tank under the bow-then there is the yamaha male tank fitting-then on the line is the female yamaha fitting on the fuel line at the tank-then about 1 foot of fuel line like the stuff you get at walmart with the primer ball on it-then the primer ball-after the primer ball there is about 3 feet of walmart fuel line then a fram automotive fuel filter inline that connects the grey fuel line with black fuel line that runs to the back of the boat and connects to the motor with another yamaha female fuel fitting. Where the fitting connects to the motor it feels a little loose like there is some side to side motion to it. Its the same at the gas tank. I can move it a little bit when its connected and im not sure if air is getting in there. They are all new fittings just seem like they are loose when connected. Also im not sure if that black fuel line is causing the problem eather its a little thicker than the other fuel line and it is softer than the grey stuff from wallyworld. Also there is the factory crimped clamps on the primer ball that i dont trust verry well. I prefer the screw type hose clamps. Man the motor runs soo cherry though when its going i have until thursday to figure this thing out. I been working on this boat til midnight all summer trying to have it ready for a camping trip we are leaving for on thursday. Any help would be Huge for me!!!!!! Thanks guys!!
