I just got my motor out of the shop. My brother took it out today for a test spin. The motor ran fine for a couple minutes after he put it in the water but when it warmed up and he tried to put it in gear it died. It wouldn't start again. He checked the primer bulb and it had gone soft. He squeezed the bulb again and manually opened the throttle. The boat started but only ran for a short time. He replaced the primer bulb and the motor continued to do the same thing. He packed it up and came home. The shop that I took it to cleaned the carbs again, did a tune up, and a link and sync.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what it can be before I have to take it back to them?

Check all of the fuel lines for air leaks. Make sure the pick-up tube in the gas tank is still attached. Maybe bring the tank and lines to the mechanic. Make sure he actually runs it for awhile in his tank. You paid him, and it should work.

Air leaks in the system or fuel pump failing. Will it keep running if you keep squeezing the primer bulb ????

My brother said he never tried to pump the bulb to keep it running. He said the motor would start and run until the bulb was soft. He did mention that when the motor would stop running it would make a small coughing sound. I don't know if that is related to the fuel starvation or something else.

Also upon inspecting the female end of the fuel line that clips onto the male end on the fuel tank, I noticed that the fitting was pretty loose and did not fit the nipple tight. Could this have anything to do with my problem?
