I've had this motor (used) for couple of years now & it runs great! Yesterday, I noticed the pee stream was just a dribble. (Kinda like my pee stream, lol) and since we have had some debris in the water, I decided to install a new water pump impeller. (I didn't find any sign of debris in the pump) Afterward I tested the motor in a tank and the pee stream is no better...

I did see there is a fair amount of water coming out the exhaust ports plus a lot of water coming out from under the lower cowling near the front of the motor. (Maybe this is normal & I just noticed it?)

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Richard

ps. Also, I'm willing to provide tips to anyone regarding the water pump replacement on the motor.

Run a piece of string trimmer line up the pee hole and see if a bug has clogged it up. Good luck

Good news, and yes that's normal for water running out from the front of the lower cowl.

Thanks 'Waterman' - Being 70 years old (& retired) I chose to spend my $ wisely & use 'affordable' fishing equipment. (wife says I cheap) Plus, I've tinkered with outboards my whole adult life and really do like the relative simplicity of the 70s - 80s motors. (compared to today's models)
I'm embarrassed that I didn't think about the pee tube being clogged.

Disconnecting the shift rod on this one was a 'bear' but accomplished after I finally removed the bottom carb and starter.

I enjoyed looking at your Sea Nymph project! Hoping your health improves quickly so you can get 'er on the water!

Took the boat out yesterday and now it makes a 'clunk' one or two times after shifting into forward & advancing the throttle a bit. (Kinda like it isn't engaging into gear completely) After that all is ok.

I'm wondering if I could have gotten the shift rod rotated 180 degrees off? Would that cause this 'clunk'?

Thx, Richard
