My 85HP Force has power tilt trim the motor will lift and lower the motor but the motor will sink down. It will not hold it up. I had it in the shop and they tell me it is the motor that is bad. They said a replacement would be $550 installed. Is there something else I can do can I rebuild it?

Not the motor. it is either one of the cylinders or the pump see previous threads for more info. you can do it yourselfand save a lot of money. marinas around here charge 100 bucks an hour

This may be a dumb question but is there a way to switch this boat over to a manual tilt trim and get rid of all the hassle of trying to fix this leak down problem.

you can simply remove TnT system and run a shaft between trailering holes on stern bracket. Use heavy duty zip ties to hold engine down for reversing. Not so weak that they break when reversing but not so strong that they don't break if you run aground. If you trailer instead of davit/lift then you may want to consider getting the actual force parts so that you don't have to keep cutting zip ties.

If you want to sell your old system, I buy cores. I do mail in rebuilds on these systems for less than cost of just a motor and always need cores to cannabalize.

i don't think I am allowed to sell stuff here. check ebay to see if there are any listings for chrysler force trim and tilt.
you can use the following search and it will return anything with either chrysler or force AND either tilt or trim in title.
(chrysler,force) (tilt,trim)

Once you get results, click on boating parts and it should eliminate all the car parts listings.

Word of caution - - it usually takes three "good condition" cores off ebay to build two finished systems. Don't buy if lower shaft is seized or there's rust on the shockeye. Those are almost sure to be basket cases.
