I know it is hard to tell from the pics, but how much room do you have between the front of the motor and the seat back? Mine has at least a foot, and it is decent enought to do most work I need on the motor.

its only like 4-6" but the whole seat is easily removable if i need to, i used bolts and threaded inserts in the floor to hold it to the floor of the boat

Wow! You really made that thing look great! Did you do the upholstry yourself or did you have someone else do it? And how did you mount those front bow cusions without taking the cap off? Velcro? Thats a nice looking boat!

Absolutely gorgeous resto, job well done! I just picked up an 87 sea ray seville and im redoing the interior and think I will go the sun-deck route. How hard was that to build? Any hints/tips you have? Thanks!

I'm jelous!!!!! I still have alot of grinding to do, before I can even think about stringers and floor, not to mention cushions etc. One more question, if you don't mind. Can you measure your motor mounts, not the ones on the engine but the ones in the boat. I had mine redone, and I think the guy made them to narrow. I was thinking about ripping them out and redoing them myself. The only thing is you are the only one I know with a similar boat. Thanks in advance! The length is find but I think the width is to narrow.

WOW doesent even begin to say how nice that boat is looking. I'm figuring you are probably the person to help me with my dilema on my own Chapparal 187. Its a 1984 with a Merc 898 (or 305 V8) and the engine runs beautiful but when the fuel tank gets to about 3/4 the boat will stall just after planing out. I've tracked the problem to the fuel tank I'm figuring the fuel pick-up is broken inside and I can see the tank is fiberglass but I'm sorta unsure about trying to remove the fuel outlet. Have you ever come accross this issue and what recomendations would you have??

Thank You

Are you sure the tank is fiberglass? I have seen several of the 187s from that year and they all have aluminum tanks, 25 Gallon.

I am pretty sure the whole outside of the tank looks like it is fiberglass but I suppose that might be just an outer shell. When I pulled the sending unit for the fuel guage it did look shiney inside??
