I'am having a problem with a stubborn driveshaft housing(mid-section).I'm trying to remove it to get access to the backside of the upper mounts(steering arm) so I can ultimately remove the pivot tube steering assmbly. It has rusted solid to the transom bracket(motor will not turn).I have a manual, but it is not detailed enough in that area.Have tried heat,PB Blaster, and a large ball peen hammer,no luck.I'm sure the corrosion does not help.Any suggestions?I'm stumped for now.
I'm thinking of draggin out the acetylene torch

the mid section will not come apart without removing the lower motor mount bolts from the lower steering yoke and the upper mount bolts from the upper steering swivel arm. the midsection can then be removed from the boat. once it is off of the boat the exhaust plate will come out of the exhaust housing. the steering swivel can then be rmoved from the tilt bracket.
you will need that torch and a be hammer, some prybars and large punches. good luck.

Thanks for your quick reply merctech.
The lowers are already out.Are there nuts on the back of the upper mounts(like lowers) or is it threaded into the housing?I thought i would need access to the back to remove the nuts.Thats why I'am trying to remove the housing.Thanks....
