Really starting to take shape now Glen! Progress is a great motivator to keep you going (so is a tiger inside your car a motivator to get the moving... but I digress...). It really shows now my friend! Rock and rollin'!!! :)

Keep up the great work... some great ideas there for many (including myself) to use!

Man Glen, you are really flyen on this project! You know she's not and icebreaker, you have to wait till all that hard water melts off so she can float, eh?

Winter will be gone before we know it Jason, still lots to do, you have less on the big girl.

just wait till that first gill hooked fish comes aboard!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha

nice job.....looks great.....dont expect that kind of work out of the rest of us though!!

bob

Thanks bob, ya the first fish blood will be the worst, but then it's done.

Wowie, Zowie, Dozer. Better than new!. :D Still can't see those seams. :joyous:

Thanks GA, going to cover the seams with a nice aluminum strip.

Coming together great! Do those paint can pedestals come w/ swivels & slides? :tan:

Thanks JB, you like those pedistals!! they are about all I can afford in the budget right now.

Looks real nice!

So what did you end up using to glue the floor vinyl down? And the hull sides? Tips? How hard was it?

Thanks DJ, I used Spray 90 to glue the vinyl down everywhere. Line the piece up where you want it tape it in place along one side real secure then fold it back half way, spray the glue on both surfaces then lay it back down and secure it with a roller, releace the tape spray the other side and aluminum and lay it down and roll it. Not real hard after you do a couple, I started by doing some of the smaller pieces to get a feel for it.

Thanks Jim, progress is going to slow bigtime by the end of the week, headed out to NW Alberta for two weeks for Christmas with the family.

So how much Spray 90 would I need approximetly? The vinyl I am looking to use has a felt backing, will it work for this also you think?

Hey DJ, I have used 5 cans so far, for the floor, gunwal sides as well as all the upholstery. I think you would have to do a test piece to see how the adhesion is but it recommended for upholstery.

I meant the vinyl flooring I'm looking at has a felt-like backing. It's the "Alpha" flooring, comes 8'6" wide. Their recommended adhesive is a latex based, but it has gotten good reviews. Just trying to figure out the best adhesive to get. From what I read a solvent based is the most permanent but I don't want to die installing it either. Can you tell I'm a flooring rookie? LOL

Hey DJ, I know what you mean, I have no experience with this Alpha product, so you would have to test it. I like the spray 90, cause there is no over spray and it has less odour than a spray bomb of paint. The firt boat I did I used the recommended adhisive for the Dek-Master product and even with the window open and a small fan going I was looped for a week.

Yah... I wore a full face mask for mine and when I was done, I popped the mask off and man I wished I hadn't done that... uber strong smell... had to get outside super quick. Stuff is strong.

Good to hear that the spray 90 is not so strong odour wise --- incidentally, where do you buy it from?

Re: 1986 ss 201

Morning Jim, I had to really shop around. Fastenal carries it but they want $35.80 a can, Bolt supply house off the shelf is $22.49, my local auto parts place wanted $32.50 but I asked if they could get closer to Bolt Supply and they went $23.29 each so that is where I purchased 6.

Morning to you as well! Good to know that Fastenal carries it... I have been to a few places and have been unable to get it. I have an contractors account with Fastenal that gives me a decent discount so I will see them when the time comes in the new year for flooring etc!

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas like I did. JB, I didn't tow anything back, but I may in the future. I spotted a 70's Chieftan in an auto wrecker's yard but didn't have time to check it out, and it it is about 8 hours out.

Re: 1986 ss 201

Ok, so what's on deck for the SS Glen?:joyous:
Hey Jason, there is lot to do just have to get some time to do it. After taking two weeks off I came back to lots of problems at work it will take a little bit to get that cleaned up. Then i still have the front deck to build, the vinyl for the consuls and front gunwals, seat pedistals which I just ordered, Storage and seating on both sides of the Dog House, and the list goes on. Plus I have another big project, grafting a 20' travel trailer on the back of a 98 Dodge 1ton 4x4 diesel for a good buddy, hope I didn't bite off more than I can chew to finish before spring?
