I recently aquired an '86 V6 Special (220HP?) on a Wellcraft 250 Sportsman. I was pretty happy with the performance until yesterday when it wouldn't get above high idle (1200-1500RPM) without bogging. I discovered that the fuel filter bowl had the wrong size o-ring installed and wasn't sealing tightly. I replaced the o-ring and it's back to the way it was before but in the process I discovered that if I hit the choke momentarily at mid range I get a decent jump in RPMs and power. Now that its got me thinking it does seem to be somewhat of a dog between idle and 1/2 throttle where it really takes off. Is this normal or is there something that I should be looking at, or is a carb rebuild in my future?
