I have a 1986 YAMAHA 115 on a 1987 Cajun Encore 17' fish and ski and the steering is rough and hard to turn the boat left and doesn't have full travel to the left.. I have lubed the visible zerks and greased the cable coming from the steering linkage.. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

See my 93 Yamaha 115 Hard to Steer post. Ended up being cable for me, but the "exploratory" helped a lot. Taking off the steering cable to boat motor connection helps to isolate the problem. There's another post by Caldemaxi on a related note about steering difficulties.

Just make sure the cable is the problem before investing $120+. Most cables will have a part number on them too, but usually you have to take the cable off at the front or rear to be able to see the number, as it can be 3 or 4 feet from the end. My cable part number was SSC12412, a Teleflex 12 foot rack and pinion set up. That'll be easier than measuring and all that, if you get the actual replacement cable, if that's what you really need.
