1986 Yamaha 130 ballpark on what its worth

I have a 1988 Yamaha 130 and was looking for a junker for spare parts - this guy has a 1986 Yamaha 150, I think they are the same except the carbs, correct me if I'm wrong.<br /><br />He says it has a 3 year old power head, runs good ya de ya de ya de he wants $1000<br /><br />Is that a good price?<br />Is that a steal?<br />Is that a rip off?<br /><br />I know if I had to buy a lower unit or tilt I could spend close to that for used.<br /><br />Thanks Bill

Guess I am wrong right out of the hole.<br />A 150 is a V-6 and a 130 is a V-4<br /><br />Still wondering is a $1000 is worth taking a look at. <br /><br />Is a 150 HP a major improvement over the 130 HP ?<br />Not just for the 20 HP but the idea its a V-6 over the V-4 and so on, thanks

If it is non saltwater, it could be a bargain. Otherwise it is a maybe. The V-6 is heavier and will burn more fuel, but it will also produce more torque and maybe speed.

Its a salt water machine, I think I will go back to plan "A" and just try to find a 1980's vintage 130 HP for spare parts. Mine is running fine these days but I'm sure she is getting tired, it also is a salt water machine and I don't know the prevous 18 years of history. If I can find a blown 130 for a few hundred bucks, the first part I take off it would almost pay for its self. Thanks for your time.

fishon71 my son has a 1992 Yahama 130 with controls and new digital tac he is selling.<br />motor was replaced with a 06 150 Yahama.<br />this is a saltwater motor but is in good shape and running.<br />Price $ 1,300 located in Swansboro NC. it is currently mounted on engine stand in garage just removed last weekend from the boat. you can reach him at 910-548-0250
